Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Greek about being bored. Σωτήρης (Sotíris) gets bored at home, posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Chrissi: Η απόλυτη βαρεμάρα σήμερα λέμε. (I apóliti varemára símera léme.)
Eric: Meaning - "Talk about absolute boredom today." Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

POST
Eric: Listen again to Σωτήρης (Sotíris)'s post.
Chrissi: Η απόλυτη βαρεμάρα σήμερα λέμε. (I apóliti varemára símera léme.)
Eric: "Talk about absolute boredom today."
Chrissi: (SLOW) Η απόλυτη βαρεμάρα σήμερα λέμε. (I apóliti varemára símera léme.) (Regular) Η απόλυτη βαρεμάρα σήμερα λέμε. (I apóliti varemára símera léme.)
Eric: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "the absolute boredom today."
Chrissi: η απόλυτη βαρεμάρα σήμερα (i apóliti varemára símera)
Eric: This is one of those phrases that doesn't need a verb in order to make sense. You can use this as it is when you're utterly bored and you want to draw some attention. This will usually work as it will trigger comments. Listen again- "the absolute boredom today" is...
Chrissi: (SLOW) η απόλυτη βαρεμάρα σήμερα (i apóliti varemára símera) (REGULAR) η απόλυτη βαρεμάρα σήμερα (i apóliti varemára símera)
Eric: Then comes the phrase - "we are talking."
Chrissi: λέμε (léme)
Eric: This verb form literally means "we talk" or "we are talking." However, here it is used in a non-literal way. You can say…
Chrissi: λέμε
Eric: right before or after making a statement in order to give emphasis to what you just mentioned. This will make your speech sound slangy, so don't use it in formal situations. Listen again- "we are talking" is...
Chrissi: (SLOW) λέμε (léme) (REGULAR) λέμε (léme)
Eric: All together, "Talk about absolute boredom today."
