Γεια σας (Geia sas). Καλημέρα (Kaliméra). Καλησπέρα (Kalispéra), με λένε Ελένη (me léne Eléni). So, hello! My name is Eleni and we will do the Greek Weekly Words together. So, let’s find out what is the theme for this week, clothing actions. |
1. βάζω (vázo) “put on” |
So, βάζω (vázo), it’s a verb that you can use for a lot, a lot of things you want to wear. |
So - Βάζω παπούτσια. (Vázo papútsia.) “I'm putting on my shoes.” |
Also - Βάζω ένα καπέλο. (Vázo éna kapélo.) “I'm putting a hat.” |
Yes, you can use it a lot. |
2. βγάζω (vgázo) “take off” |
Βγάζω το παντελόνι μου. (Vgázo to pandelóni mu.) “I'm taking off my pants.” |
Βγάζω το καπέλο μου. (Vgázo to kapélo mu.) “I'm taking off my hat.” |
3. πλένω (pléno) “wash” |
Τα παλιά τα χρόνια οι γυναίκες πλένανε τα ρούχα στα χέρια. (Ta paliá ta hrónia i yinékes plénane ta rúha sta héria.) “In the past, women were washing their clothes with their hands.” |
4. επιδιορθώνω (epidiorthóno) “mend” |
Όταν τρυπάει κάποιο ρούχο μου, το πηγαίνω στον ράφτη να το επιδιορθώσει. (Ótan tripái kápio rúho mu, to piyéno ston ráfti na to epidiorthósi.) “When I have some holes on my clothes, I’m going to a professional to mend.” |
