| Eric: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight. |
| Chrissi: Even though the verb “to go” is πηγαίνω (piyéno), in everyday conversations, Greeks also use a shorter form of the verb, which is πάω (páo). This is just a matter of preference. So let’s say someone asks you "Where are you going" and they use Πού πας;. If you are going home for example, you can answer Πηγαίνω σπίτι or Πάω σπίτι. It's the same thing, but the first version is the proper one while the second one sounds more casual. |
